TARTU

  • Pillow Cinema 
Science Centre AHHAA, Sadama 1
19, 24 and 25 September, 20.30

The coziest cinema in the world is back! On 19, 24 and 25 September, AHHAA opens the doors to the Pillow Cinema! It's completely free of charge and the movie starts at 20.30
We provide some seats for those who arrive early, but we recomment bringing your own pillow, or a chair (or even an inflatable or portable bed, if you wish!) There is also a popcorn and lemonade booth, so we have everything that's necessary for a perfect movie night (the price is 1 € for each).

Wednesday, 19 September

"Snowpiercer" (2013).  Set in a future where a failed climate-change experiment kills all life on the planet except for a lucky few who boarded the Snowpiercer, a train that travels around the globe, where a class system emerges. Commentary by Jaak Jaagus, the professor of climatology (Uni. Tartu)

Monday, 24 September

"Human Flow" (2017). Director and artist Ai Weiwei's detailed and heartbreaking exploration into the global refugee crisis. Commentary by Dan Prits (International House of Tartu)

Tuesday, 25 September

"Mad Max: Fury Road" (2015). In a post-apocalyptic wasteland, a woman rebels against a tyrannical ruler in search for her homeland with the aid of a group of female prisoners, a psychotic worshiper, and a drifter named Max. Commentary by neuroscientist Aleksandr Bregin (Uni. Tartu)

  • Young Researchers For Science: Festival Workshops

On this year's Researchers' Night Festival, we're glad to host the young researchers from Portugal, Czech Republic, Estonia and Hungary. Come to AHHAA and take part in their cool and innovative, environment-themed workshops. The program takes place in Science Centre AHHAA (Sadama 1, Tartu) on 27 and 28 September. Töötuba "Travel like a bird!"

Station game about the migration of birds, and the dangers they have to face throughout their journey. Will find an answer to the question how much do you think climate change affects them?
