Näitlik triangulatsioon 23. septembril kell 18 Tartu tähetorni ees Teadlaste Öö festivali raames.

Tartu tähetorn kuulub UNESCO maailmapärandisse kui Struve geodeetilise kaare alguspunkt. Mida, miks ja kuidas Struve õigupoolest tegi, vajab aga sageli põhjalikumat selgitamist.

Kasutame nii ajaloolisi kui kaasaegseid riistu ning võrdleme saadud tulemusi. Loodetavasti selgub seegi, kui palju on teadusriistade vahepealne areng vähendanud energiakulu, mida maakera mõõtmise tööks vaja läheb.

A demonstration of triangulation on September 23 at 6 p.m. in front of the Tartu Observatory, as part of the Researchers' Night festival.

The Tartu Observatory is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site as the starting point of the Struve Geodetic Arc. What Struve actually did, why, and how, however, often needs a more thorough explanation.

We will use both historical and modern instruments and compare the results. Hopefully it will also become clear how much the development of scientific instruments in the meantime has reduced the energy required to measure the Earth.
